Camera History & Parts

The Camera
1. Explain the “camera obscura” effect. How is it achieved? It was the first camera. The hole acted like a lens focusing and projecting light into the wall of the dark chamber.

2. What invention during the 17th Century helped man get a step closer to creating the modern camera? Optics and the process of making high quality glass lenses.

3. What were the parts of the first modern camera invented by Niepce?  He invented film.

4.What do modern digital cameras have in common with Niepce’s camera? They are still Cameras . They got both got film.

5. What do digital cameras use to capture an image? Light passes thru the lens and exposes into a film oh a photograph.

Camera Modes


6. What is the difference between the Auto Mode and the Program mode? On auto mode it controls the flash and exposure ..& On program mode you just point and shoot.

7. What is the Portrait mode used for? How does it work? It try's to blur out the background  ..& try's to use the fastest available lens

8. What is the Sports mode used for? (not just sports) How does it work? It freezes the motion & will use the highest shutter speed possible.

The Half Press

9. Why should you do a half press on the trigger button? We should use it cause it tells you when the camera is ready to take the picture and it focus it for you.
Controlling Flash

10. That theres not flash.. When you would need light. 

11. That its automatically the flash is on .. When its dark oh you need light in a picture.

Introduction To Exposure

12. What happens to your photo if there is too much light? The picture gets washed out

13. What happens to your photo if there is not enough light? The picture comes out to dark.

19. The aperture is like a pupil . you can control it by aperture setting.
